Adult Version of the Purple Crayon...

Murals. This is a tree branch that hangs above the wall of my bed. As you can see, I am fond of drawing on the wall, as there are chalk notes up and down the wall. But the branch is a little more permanent. It's free-handed and lies opposite of a flock of birds that can be seen carrying the heart-shaped heart necklace in the post below. As these are free-handed, the possibilities of what can be painted on the wall are limitless!

Heart-Shaped

Over a year ago I made this necklace. It was created from a piece of recycled hardwood that had taken a beating from being a support in my dad's old fashioned button-maker (hence the circles on the wood). I cut into a heart-shape with a jig saw and grinded it down, creating burns on the wood. I then stained it and put a thin coat of wax on the necklace. I finished it off with a leather strand. It hangs right below the sternum. These are available on commission, but a fair warning, it goes with everything and the wearer will find that she feels naked without it. Each necklace is made from recycled hardwood that has a story of it's own, so no two are a like.. sizes vary slightly.

For the Love of Giraffes...

Giraffes are one of my favorite animals... in case you couldn't tell. They're tall and fun and go great with leaves. Every item is an original handmade piece... evidence of my obsession. But, we'll call it a series.. that sounds better. The first is a t-shirt with recycled fabric spots on the hand-painted giraffe. Notice detail in 2nd picture. The frame is a reused frame from my childhood with giraffe silhouette, and the last is a patterned silhouette box for storing... whatever. My box holds miscellaneous jewelry components.

Welcome to Ordinary Things Creations

Ordinary Things is the name given to my creations. Creations that range from decor, to artwork, to jewelry, to clothing, to stationary... and whatever else might happen in a creative rage. Cards are especially fun... here's one I made for one of my besties.
